The TECHSIGHT project, financially supported by the EIT HEI initiative of the European Union, today officially launched its pilot activities at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, with a practical training on the topic of “Strategic Foresight for Future-Ready Startups”.
This international event brings together 160 students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at UKIM and 60 students from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg – Mannheim, Germany, with the aim of improving their skills and preparing future engineers with key knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation.
At the gathering, welcoming speeches were given by Prof. Dr. Radmil Polenaković from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Skopje, Prof. Dr. Martin Kornmeier from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg – Mannheim and Prof. Dr. Valentina Gečevska, Vice-Rector for Science at UKIM, underlining the importance of international cooperation and future-oriented education.
The event continued with an interactive workshop dedicated to “Deep Tech Horizons 2035”, with expert contributions in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship from Marjan Nikolovski, innovation expert and CEO of THE NEW WAY from Copenhagen, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onurcan Şahin from YILDIZ Technical University from Istanbul.
“The workshop aims to help students predict future technological developments and rethink their startup ideas by applying strategic foresight tools,” the press release states.
One of the sessions also included a team-based case study, where mixed teams of Macedonian and German students collaborated to develop and present visionary startup concepts, using the Business Model CANVAS tool for the future.
As stated, the event marks the start of a series of activities within the TECHSIGHT project, funded by the European Union’s EIT HEI initiative, aimed at stimulating innovation-based education and preparing students to become future-ready entrepreneurs.
